Central Missouri Food Bank
The Central Missouri Food Bank is a regional hunger and disaster relief organization that provides food and relief-oriented products to a network of charitable agencies. This network is comprised of a series of unique partnerships. CMFB acts as a supplier and participating agencies act as distributors to meet the needs of people in poverty or crisis. “The Central Missouri Food Bank’s primary objective is to distribute food and relief-oriented products to those in need through its member agencies. All member agencies must share that objective. The CMFB acts as a partner and advocate for member agencies through community outreach, education and public awareness of the plight of the hungry”.
Among such agencies are elementary schools and school programs that participate in the Food Bank’s BUDDY PACK PROGRAM, which provides supplemental food to participating children, once a week throughout the school year.
Hallsville Food Pantry; Supplemental Food Relief
At Hallsville Intermediate and Primary Schools, Buddypack food is taken home on Fridays so that
each Buddypack recipient will have food for the weekend.
However, hunger occurs every day of the week, all year long, and we believe that continuing to support children in our community is an absolute necessity.”Hunger steals the memory”. (Louise Erdrich), and children are unable to learn or to function to the best of their abilities, if they are hungry. Over the past few years, on extended weekends, holidays and summer breaks from school, privately donated money from community members, local churches and community organizations like the Hallsville Optimists has allowed us to purchase and distribute supplemental food for children in need. Some families have donated large quantities of food each month to help supplement the Buddypack program as well. All donations, both monetary and food items, are truly appreciated!
