What Happened...

March 2, 2002

The Central Missouri Food Bank gave a presentation to the group regarding the purpose of the organization and the area in which they serve. Currently the CMFB is attempting to raise money for the purpose of obtaining more space to serve the growing needs of the community. For more information on how you can help, contact the Central Missouri Food Bank.

The Hallsville Optimists joined the Ashland Optimists in Ashland for Pancake Day. The Ashland Optimists were using the proceeds of this event to assist the Ashland Fire Department in the purchase of a thermal camera that will be able to help them locate individuals trapped in structures where smoke has eliminated visibility. It was our honor to support a club who has been such great support to us.

March 16, 2002

The Hallsville PTSA gave a presentation regarding the style, size, and construction needs for new playground equipment that they will be installing at the Hallsville Elementary School. Several Optimists have assisted the PTSA in the installation of a smaller set of equipment. It was decided due to the complexity of the installation that they will hire out for the installation of the larger equipment.

CASINO NIGHT

March 16, 2002 7:00 p.m.

Pictorial Highlights from Hallsville Casino Night!

Some of the items donated by our generous donors who made our event a success!

Thanks to all of our donors!

Tina Carmack, dealing at one of the Let it Ride tables.

Dennis Adkins, VP, dealing Black Jack

Janet Jensen, keeping things lively at Let it Ride!

Bob Cathey, calling the shots at the Craps table.

Note: There was also a color wheel, but the webperson which will remain unnamed...failed to take a picture. I wonder why? My appologies to Debbie Johnson who was an awesome spinner on the wheel. I won approximately $3,000 dollars in chips (only $30 in the Hallsville Optimists exchange rate...) between her and Elaine George spinning. However, I did a lousy job repaying the favor. In a brief span of about 30 minutes, I not only made a killing as the house spinner, but I completely parted fellow Optimists Debbie Johnson and Katie Merrill of all of their chips. However, I'm OPTIMISTIC that they will recover from their economic windfall.

I guess this is what you call a Full House!

To wrap up the evening, Kyle George auctioned all those lovely gifts to the big winners of the night (and some of the not so big winners too).
